About e-LARA...
The project
developed from the need to digitally alphabetize people,
youth and women, who live and work in marginal and rural areas of the
concerned territories, on the premise that they live in isolation.
In the rural area and, in the agricultural field, the use of ICT technologies is really low; besides, these areas are characterized by a scarce availability of services, and spreading the ICT use would allow people to easily access services shortening physical distances, reduce isolation increasing communication possibilities and also allow greater training/information opportunities with non conventional, so less strict, modes and times. The choice to address the project to youth and women has been dictated by the need to intervene on subjects requiring an empowerment action. Youth represent rural areas future: therefore it is important to promote actions able to check rural territories abandonment giving youth tools allowing them to fit in with times, shorten distances and be constantly updated. Women, instead, according to what has emerged from the surveys carried out during the last years, know ICT tools less than men and this is more obvious if the concerned women are the ones living in rural areas.
